Hanworth Villa (H)

Post by Red army »

Well it’s definitely not improving. Worst than Saturday same outcome.

Never looked like scoring again, their keeper made one save 2nd half and we only scored thanks to his absolute howler from a weak free kick.

Serious issues in the middle of the park for me. Conceded a goal from a cross into their box, 2 passes and 2 defenders never put in a real challenges, bloke runs to edge of the box shoots keeper parry’s but into his run it’s the same as last Saturday. We look easy to play against never look like winning second balls always slow to react. Landolo and Martin had absolute stinkers tonight. Couldn’t pass ten yards let alone trying 40/50 yard diagonals, most to high and sailing over intended targets head or skips of the wet surface and goes out for goal kicks for throw ins. Are we seriously asking players at step 4 to play passes like this to break teams down?

Fair play to Hanworth, physical up front competed for every long ball chucked up towards them, caused our defenders problems all night never let them rest. Midfield combative won the majority second balls and stopped us playing. Defence no risks taken, cleared it to all parts of the stadium. Never looked under any real threat defensively.

On to Saturday can’t wait!!!

Doesn't sound good right now. Away from home we were cruising (albeit the quality of the opposition may have been part of that). Now three games at home in a week and three defeats. Out of the FA Cup and FA Trophy into the bargain. A week is a long time in football. What's gone wrong? Or are we just coming up against better sides and found wanting?

I saw the attendance on FWP was listed as just 137! That's got to be one of the worst league home attendances we've ever had? For a local derby too. I'm guessing the England game had a lot to do with that, but still that's quite a drop off from the previous two home games.

Hopefully we can turn it around against Horndean on Saturday. They took a right pasting at Westfield last night so they're not invincible.

To win games of football at this level players have got to be willing to put their foot in and graft and last night there were too many players pulling out of tackles and not willing to do the dirty work.
The contrast between how we played against Southall by getting the ball on the deck and using the width of the pitch and last night is marked.

I sat in front of three Hanworth supporters and they said "this lot are relegation fodder" and after that performance i find it hard to disagree at the moment.

Margate at home performance lacked cutting edge.
Leatherhead game looked like a single goal game from very early on. Cancelled each other out and both sides looked light up front.

Like previous post minimum in this league, compete and win individual battles or we will be on the end of some poor results.
Last night was ok 15 mins but as soon as the goal went it we had no idea how to get back into the game. Early away games hit diagonal passes in to wingers then full back on overlaps. But the long passes are 50/50 at best and now they not working we look ordinary going forward.
I don’t think the 3 centre backs worked, Jude got caught so far up the pitch, after a poor pass on the opposite side of the pitch, never recovered cross from his side and we behind.
Can’t understand why Gaby was left out in favour of Adam Martin when he’s played well in last three games, and the closest we got to a ball winner in the squad.
It’s early days still but frustrating to watch when the same thing happens game in and game out.
