Margate (H) - Replay

Post by PSG55 »

Having followed on Twitter, watched the highlights from FC Video and listened to Andy Leese's post-match interview, it doesn't sound like one of our more inspired performances last night? Very disappointing to go out of the FA Cup so early too.

A couple of positives that I can see - the return of Jonathan Hippolyte from the start, Perri Iandolo coming on as a sub after injury and a decent first home crowd of the season. Hopefully plenty of them will come back?

Of course, one man doesn't make a team, but is it fair to say we've struggled somewhat since Adrian Clifton got suspended? Kaylen Hinds seems to be finding the net (2 in 3 I believe?) but Clifton's numbers were very impressive before he got sent off. How is McKenzie looking since joining (albeit only two games played)?

Hopefully we can put a good Trophy run together starting on Saturday. Promotion is obviously the goal this season, but a good Trophy run wouldn't go amiss either.

Better team won over the 2 games in all honesty..
Hard to put a finger on the performance, very much the same as Saturday, Margate a decent side and more aggressive in terms of wanting to win individual battles all over the park seemed to take control of every second ball. . 2nd goal was poor way to concede and really put the nail in our coffin.
2nd half was better, created few good chances but never took them, saying that always looked susceptible to conceding at the other end. Kaylen scored but to concede less than 5 minutes later stopped all momentum.

Kaylen Hinds has been ok so far scored a few but only on loan and no idea how long the agreement is, think he could be worth keeping around though.
I personally don’t think McKenzie is good enough for this level, ok touch but not a lot of pace and not really a physical presence, maybe harsh after 2 games but his record at the numerous previous clubs gives you a clue to the player he his. Good level 5 player but not at step 4 for me.

Think Gaby has been good in these 2 games versus Margate, more mobile than Adam Martin. Gaby, Berchiche and Perrie in midfield could be promising going forward.

Disappointing to go out but no complaints, thought there would be few in different performances early on but expected with new squad of players. Move on to Saturday versus Leatherhead be good to judge ourselves against one of the favourites in our league.
