I’ve finally come out of the dark cupboard after that mauling at Westfield few weeks back. Result and performance came as a bit of a shock for United faithful, maybe just one of those days when we’re not at our best and Westfield were ruthless on the day.
Horndean away last Tuesday was a strange game. A patched up defence with Remi filling it at left back who did a sterling job. Bryce Gough at 17 did very well in his first United game. Missed a plethora of chances and conceded 2 absolute stunners in the first half. Draw probably the fair result on the night. Flaherty stunner from just outside the box on debut, and Kaunda also on debut pouncing on a loose ball, finished emphatically across the keeper.
Kingstonian Saturday was a very good away day performance against a side that likes to dominate possession but will always give you a chance if u can regain possession high up the pitch. Amaura Kaunda could easily have had a Hat-trick in the game a really good addition to the squad. K’s keeper giving the ball away in his own box, Kaunda pounces on a loose pass skips round the keeper but his shot blocked on the line. United came close again when Hayles, Flaherty, Nasha combine for the former to have his shot blocked inside the 6yd box. Kaunda on the stroke of half time should of scored, a neat turn in the centre circle, left 2 k’s players flat footed as he skipped clear bearing down on goal, with only the keeper to beat, drags his shot wide of the right hand upright. Ht 0-0
Second half United slowly, but still created another good chance, Hayles slipped pass into the run of Hinds his left footed effort agonisingly wide of the far post. Finally the breakthrough came that man Hinds drifting across the box from the United right, 20yds out drills a left footed grass cutter into the corner, leaving the keeper rooted to the spot. 11 minutes later it was 2, ball worked up the right Nasha to Flaherty his deft pass with the outside of his left foot round the defender, Kaunda beat the offside trap, into the area calmly slots between the k’s advancing keeper. United defending stoutly, Odell blocking a shot inside the area was the closest the home side came. Into stoppage time and the rearguard was beaten, pass from the United’s left touchline into former United player Sean O’Brien, he finished well into the far corner. United had one final chance, Ryan Ewhare pace gets him 1v1 with keeper but he smothers well at the strikers feet. Ft 1-2
Mom Josh Odell arguably his best game in a United shirt. Crucial block in the second half, and survived the rest of the game comfortably despite an early booking.
Decent away day performance when we have looked a bit shaky on the road so far this season. Recent recruit at left back Mack Miskin had a solid debut and added balance to the defence. Amos with his usual work rate and Ben Purcell playing his part. The front four look frightening Hayles, Hinds, Flaherty and Kaunda will score goals I have no doubt about that!!! Kaunda looks a real talent from the 2 games I’ve seen 2/2 so far and hopefully more to come.

Enjoy these summaries and missed them when they weren't here. Thanks.
Re: Kingstonian (A)
Ditto from me. Good to have you back Red army!
Sounds like a really good performance against Kingstonian last weekend and then another very questionable one at Bognor on Tuesday. Why are we so inconsistent?
