Hartley Wintney & Harrow (H)

Post by Red army »

Thought the Hartley Wintney performance was one of the better ones this season. Very open game and numerous chances created at both ends with both defences on the shaky side.
Just we got ourselves in front in first 20minutes then sat so deep and invited Hartley onto to us and no surprise we conceded before half time through and clumsy challenge resulting in a penalty. Second half was much the same as all the the preceding ones, never really did enough to put the game out of reach, once again half end to end and chances for both sides. The two early goals in both halves just knocking the stuffing out of Hartley Wintney.

Mom Kaylen Hinds looks a threat and scores goals regularly fitter by the game but loan ending soon whether he will be here much longer will be another big loss.

Harrow games was a disappointing affair really not a great deal between the sides. They started really well first 10/15 minutes and we looked all at sea to begin with. They slowly started to settle and created few chances hitting the woodwork twice but both sides cancelled each other out for large parts.
Second half was another frustrating one, seems to be happening game after game look tired and movement off the ball is severely lacking in all areas. Harrow looked the more likely and a near post corner bundled home after new loan keeper saving a spot kick, poor defending for the second lazy in shutting down the ball picked a cross and headed home.
I’m not sure what the problem is if its formation? players in wrong positions??? Or still undecided on best 11?
Definitely need a ball winning midfielder now Kombie Kwambie loan recall. Always seem to be 2/3 yards of the second ball. Adam Martin struggled in the Hartley game especially in the latter stages booked and then often beaten for pace. Hani ok on the ball and gets it moving through the pitch but not a ball winner. Gaby probably the closest we have.
Squad still looks unbalanced to me Jude Mason a massive miss at present, not sure Jack Williams is the answer at left back? Jordan Ibe his best game was Hartley for me direct looked fitter. Then Tuesday more frustrating, beat his full back once and then again and then again. Beat him once and cross the ball if strikers not there down to them. We know he has ability to beat players but simple things work. Maybe a more central role would be an option over the coming weeks but hard to move Kaylen out of there after his performances of late.
I’m optimistic there is a decent side in the offing but needs a few additions in certain areas. Too many centre backs and wingers and forwards are bloated at the club. Probably lacking pace at the back hence why we seem so deep at times?
Harrow no 5 was exceptional the other one of the best performances from an opponent in that position I’ve seen.

On a side note £12 for a velocity cup tie for me is a bit steep?

Next game Guernsey, looking forward to this one hopefully a 90minute performance and all 3 points on the road.
