Margate (A)

Post by Red army »

Take the positives first, 5th away game undefeated another clean sheet. Overall Margate will be kicking themselves that they have a replay on Tuesday night.

Ground looks like it’s undergoing some renovation work, open on 2 sides don’t remember that from the last visit a couple of years ago. Windy conditions which Margate handled a lot better than ourselves.
Margate quite direct into the front men and then picking up the majority of the second balls throughout the game which made it hard for us to get any rhythm or decent possession in the game. First big chance came with a long diagonal ball over the head of the covering Hercules in the right back spot, he misjudged the flight which landed in the penalty box, with a hint of panic he ran into the back of the winger, clumsy tackle and ref had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Seemed to take an age to take but Juliusz Pazio came up trumps diving to his right and palming the weak spot kick round the post. Hayes struggling for any decent possession in the final third, Margate grew into the game and created another chance winger cutting in from the Hayes right, his far post effort turned aside from Juliusz Pazio. Another shot from outside of the area easily dealt with by Pazio on the away goal. Only remember 2 chances from Hayes first Cole Brown found himself on the left from a free kick, a few kind bobbles found him bearing down on goal, slipped his effort past the keeper but cleared of the line. This time Hayes long ball found Kaylen Hinds in a foot race with the on rushing keeper, but his heavy touch past the keeper run out of play.
Ht 0-0

2nd half very similar to the first. Another good save from Pazio from a break away winger tucked inside shot for the far post tipped away. Corner from Margate ball finds it way in but ref blows for foul on Hayes keeper. Constant pressure from set pieces but all dealt with Pazio either punching or catching to relieve the pressure. Hayes created one decent chance in all truth Hercules heading in the box on the right, kaylen Hinds reacts first but with no composure blazes high and wide. Hayes digging deep, committing fouls in around the box allowing Margate to keeper Pazios goal. Final chance of the game fell to Margate from the right hand side, fierce low shot cannons of the outside of near post and cleared.

Mom Juliusz Pazio saved a penalty made 2/3 real classy saves to keep us level. Confident with crosses and had plenty to deal with. Will Salmon and Shawn Joseph ( really impressed with him so far) were very good under a barrage for most of the game.

Never looked a threat going forward, Clifton and Hippolyte a big miss for us. Work rate and commitment never in doubt just wasn’t our day, go again on Tuesday.

Thanks for the excellent review as always Red army.

Certainly sounded like we lived a charmed life at times in the Twitter feed this arvo.

Will Clifton be back on Tuesday? Is Hippolyte injured? I can imagine both were a huge miss as they’ve been playing well so far this season.
