Started really sluggish in this game and conceded a chance in the opening minutes of the game luckily Forster turning it behind for a corner.
Huffed and puffed for the most part, few corners and an Kurtis Cumberbatch effort flying over from the edge of the box. Loose headed clearance fell into the pay of Ross Derham his control was controlled with an outstretched arm but the official waved Bedfont appeals away, pass wide to Kuanda checked inside, he delivered an in-swinging cross from the United left, Dernell Wynter glancing his header home in front of the advancing keeper. Luck most certainly going the way of the home side. Bedfont had the best of the chances before the break, surging run through the Hayes midfield, pass found the striker in space on the their right low shot turned away by Forster at his near post. Then resulting corner deflected wide from a pot shot at goal. Last chance of the half long range effort from the away side not troubling the United stopper. Ht 1-0

Bedfont with an early chance, a corner cleared by United, returned with interest to the back post, but headed over under pressure. Fashanu again having positive effect on the United left, received the ball on the touchline, nutmegs the full back drives to the byline then cuts inside a fires a low drive into the far corner. Free kick fired wide around the half hour mark and the game petering out to a home win. Chance to wrap the game fell to Hay in the box but the keeper smothered well. Bedfont corner from the United left, headed home unmarked by the centre forward. Game on and the anxiety set in around the ground, Derham clear in the right wing position found Matthew 20 yds out, he curled his effort narrowly wide. Then the equaliser, two defensive headers only half cleared, both picked up uncontested in midfield by Bedfont. In swinging cross from the opposition left, punched clear by Forster to the corner of the 18yd box, returning cross headed home with Forster getting no where near the cross!!! FT 2-2

Mom hmmm no outstanding performances Fashanu for his goal, the real danger and Ross Derham with his energy in the attacking areas worth a mention.

Felt for Forster, probably his best game I’ve seen him have in a Hayes shirt collected every cross with ease until that point of the game, just a poor decision in the final moments of the game cost us all 3 points. But easily averted long before it came to those crosses!!

Wing play is exciting at times but sometimes doesn’t come with an end product. Hopefully that will come over the next few weeks as the team start to gel.

Threw it away
2-0 up and never looked like conceding. Two soft goals conceded Hayes lost their way and got complacent. Forster was catching crosses for fun all night a poor punch when it looked easier to catch the ball cost Hayes dearly.
Hopefully he will learn from this error he looks far more confident this year with a new defence in front of him, and had produced great saves already. It’s only one league game already there are signs of a great season ahead

Thanks to whoever at the club takes the time to ask the questions and record the interview and for Jamie putting himself up come rain or shine and there was a bit of both on Saturday.

It's good to hear he and the team appreciate the positive support and hear the "shouters and moaners" even if they choose to ignore them. Personally I like a bit of both with supporters there to "support" but free to make their feelings known when poor tactics cost us as they did on Saturday. As an impressionable youngster I was on the terraces with John Colvin at Church Road and I hope I'm not disrespecting his memory if recall his frequent cries of "Bloody rubbish, Hayes" while his passion and support for the club were second to none. Maybe it's not seen as the best modern motivational practice, but as Jamie says "it's the game".
