Squad 26/27

Jude Mason has signed for Gosport Borough. That’s a big loss, IMHO. Good luck to him though.

So the first retentions have been announced.

Good to see Amos staying on. I have only seen Rogers play once in person so I can't really pass comment on him. But the fact both have chosen to stay surely bodes well?

Sounds like quite a few have also left, so looking forward to seeing the subsequent announcements. Great job by the social media team by the way!

I tend to err on the side of stability and like it when retain we players. And managers. But...

...the way last season ended I find myself hoping for a reasonable amount of change in the squad for the upcoming campaign, which it sounds like we may be getting.

Rogers and Nasha are amongst those I'd want to keep so, so far it's looking good!

Some good signings emerging. Good to see Kaylen Hinds back this season. And Dernell Wynter sounds like he could be the striker we've been waiting for since Moses Emmanuel left (although I suppose we did have Adrian Clifton for a season and he was pretty prolific). 20 goals in 33 games for Harrow last season sounds pretty good to me!

The squad well and truly taking shape and I'm feeling quietly confident for the season ahead. Lots of experience joining the ranks, which I think is key at this level to get out of the division.

Proper reinforcements to the defence (which we all agreed were badly needed). A little surprised that Calum Duffy doesn't appear to be staying on (if indeed he isn't) but no sign of him so far and plenty of other centre-halves announced. Some presence and goals in central midfield and some proper goal threats up top. The full-backs / wing-backs look well catered for. Only one keeper, and I haven't seen Forster play so I can't really comment. A good keeper is worth points on their own so hopefully we're happy with that one.

Overall, I like what I'm seeing so big well done to JT and the club for getting quality players through the door. Looks like it'll be a tough division this year with how other clubs are also signing. I guess the only issue we may have is how to keep all these players happy with minutes?

Ah, that's a shame about Hayles, but the positives look to far outweigh the negatives when looking at the comings and goings. I'm not knowledgeable enough to rate the new signings (yet) but they look to have experience and a good record on paper (though the game is not played on paper of course...).

It's certainly different to previous seasons where we've had a vast array of trialists and we've been left guessing as to who's signed on until the eve of the first league fixture. I suppose we'll see fewer trialists in the upcoming friendlies.

How big's the squad though? Is the increased size temporary or will there be some fluidity of movement between the first team squad and the new "B" team? It's always been a bit disappointing that so few players transition from the youth team to the main squad, maybe that will happen more with the second string.

Rayners Lane in just a week!
