Dorchester (H)
Dorchester (H)
Well we was ok for 15 minutes at least. The rest was exactly the same as we’ve been watching all season. Never remotely looked like scoring. Diamond in midfield was just frustrating at times, ball being played into the most congested part of the pitch repeatedly, surprisingly with exactly the same result.
Dorchester full backs didn’t see a red shirt in opposition for about 30/40 yards every time they went forward, one of many opposing keepers this season never called into action.
Second half no urgency, and even less ideas of how to get back into the game, substitutes never improved or changed the direction of the game. Dorchester organised but never any real threat going forward but comfortable all afternoon.
Game seemed a non event for whole of the second half, watching that you wouldn’t think we fighting for survival.
One thing that does irritate me, no urgency, passion or fight for 90minutes, then in injury time players go round getting into mindless scraps and making shit tackles normally ending in needless cautions and red cards. Discipline this season has been an absolute joke!!!
Mom Samni Odelusi captains performance, outstanding at the base of the diamond winning countless 50/50s, sadly he was a one of the few this afternoon.
U ayesssss

Pretty much the impression I got from the Twitter feed this arvo too Red army. Just sounds like we are incapable of scoring goals.
Didn’t realise we played a diamond but I’ve never been a fan of this. It just leaves you too narrow unless you have super-human full-backs that can spend 90mins covering the entire length of the pitch at pace.
No starting XI on Twitter today which I found a bit odd.
For me though (just my humble opinion), it’s done now. HAD to win today. May sound like the prophet of doom but I don’t see us getting out of this now. Can’t score goals and still with Gosport and Salisbury to play. Even Basingstoke and Plymouth seem like tall orders now.

Think the writing is on the wall psg55!!! No blame can be put at the feet of Andy Leese after one training session, been sleep walking into this since way before Xmas I’m afraid. Never been out played by any side in the division. We ok against the top sides which gives u hope, but equally just ok against our relegation rivals. We concede early in games and I can’t see anyway back.
Forwards have not been missing chances, we just don’t create enough of them or any clear cut chances for them to miss.
Not down yet but it’s looking that way unless Andy can conjure up some magic.

Absolutely agree Red army. Leese has been put into a tough position very late in the day. If he can conjure up a survival then he deserves the biggest bonus the club can afford. But I think he’s realistically got to have an eye on rebuilding for next season at step 4 (I hope I’m wrong of course).
Re: Dorchester (H)
I hate to say it but I knew the writing was on the wall after Harrow away. It was the first time I’d seen a few of the old boys turn, they weren’t happy.
Then from know where we win 4 on the bounce and its all looking Rosie.
Since then it’s been Eric Dier!
Molesley should have been booted out after the Didcot defeat at home.
Guernsey away anyone?

Re: Dorchester (H)
Our defence has been reasonably solid over the last few games. Two goals conceded in the last three should yield a return greater than one point. Clearly we are not looking like scoring goals (and more worryingly) nor creating chances. I was a little confused as to what the plan was today as without Ronan Silva or Omar we do not really have a midfielder that can score/create. Furthermore it seemed a little odd that Paul Field was not in the starting eleven. Playing him at full back (and Hudson left midfield) allows you to play Cole Brown further forward. Perhaps going 4-4-2 might have been a more successful ploy.
The sad reality is that we do look to be sliding down and we appear to be going with something of a whimper. The nonsense at the end masks a performance that lacked urgency and energy. Other clubs are doing their best to go down with us but we do not seem able to take advantage. Maybe a win against Basingstoke gives us an outside chance but the remaining 4 games after that look tough.

Re: Dorchester (H)
I thought it was bad, but looking at results we’ve only scored in 2 of our last 7 league games. 2 at home to Swindon and 1 away at Merthyr. With that run of form how are we not doomed all ready?
Re: Dorchester (H)
Not too much to add to these comments other than to say yes I generally agree with what’s been said. However whilst I agree our main issue is probably not scoring enough goals (is Sam Ashton still our top scorer or has Ayo now caught him up?) whilst we have generally been tighter at the back I can count at least 10-12 individual crass errors that have contributed to us dropping points over the season. An extra 10 points would see us safe. Issues at both ends of the pitch have contributed to the situation. Our inability to score has just compounded the problem, can never get us out of jail and makes every defensive error potentially costly.

Another loss Basingstoke got their goal sat back and took the piss out of Hayes who produced yet another toothless display. Once again poor defending cost Hayes their player ran across the front of the area without any challenge and they score a deflected goal. When you are down and struggling the football gods are never on your side.
It was good to see Amos back. He ran his socks off he looked to be in real trouble in the first half looked injured. Much to my surprise he came out for the second half and produced a battling effort before finally being subbed. Finally in the second half Hayes had a go but never troubled Basingstoke. It is hard to see where Hayes are going to get a goal there are no chances being created and it is too late now to change things. Three games now without scoring and the position in the table is deserved with some of the recent games.
Another red card for I assume violent conduct and a three match ban for Wood. This is becoming a real regular habit and Hayes must be gaining an unwarranted reputation. Hayes are not a dirty side but when you are struggling things go against you but in some cases player stupidity make it easy for referees. We all like a hard and fair game but Hayes have been on the receiving end of some shocking decisions. However it can’t all be down to a bad decisions and players must take responsibility for their lack of discipline which has cost Hayes plenty of points this year.
Hayes are in serious trouble now, the only good thing is that Hayes are still in touch and can survive with a decent run of form. Home again on Tuesday a must win game defeat then its as good as over.

I hope that you are not doing a Mystic Meg and predicting the Basingstoke performance two days before it happens!!!Halfway Old Geezer wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2024 5:01 pm Another loss Basingstoke got their goal sat back and took the piss out of Hayes who produced yet another toothless display.
