Just following the match on Twitter that late goal hurt, but when you’re down, that’s what happens I suppose.
I see the team sheet at the start of each match and think we have a decent starting eleven, then, more times than not things don’t work out. No team is “too good to go down” but if Mark M can keep confidence levels up, get the team moving the ball quickly surely we have the talent to rise up the table.
Tariq going off early must have disrupted defensive plans. Was Wabo for Gambin a brave bid for the win which ultimately didn’t pay off?
Onwards and (let’s hope) upwards. Not too much rain towards the end of the week and a Waltham & Hersham team in middling form with 7 points from their last 6 matches.

Re: v Hendon (A) 1 Jan 2024
Desperately gutted to lose at the end but for the first time since I have been over, I saw signs of fight in the team. Going 1-down so early and coming back to lead 1-2 at HT, then equalising again for 3-3 after the calamitous couple of moments which saw us going 2-3 down. It bodes well.
That said, still giving goals away too cheaply and the midfield seemed to be “missing” for me.
Thought Omar Rowe produced a couple of moments of magic to create chances and I thought Faniyan looked up for it too.
Tough one coming up on Saturday but I hear we’re due some new additions to solidify the side?

I think the score line flattered us somewhat. Apart from 30 minutes in the first half where we looked like scoring every time we went forward. Ayo Faniyan pace and strength caused the 2 centre backs all kinds of issues. Probably the best game I’ve seen him play in a Hayes shirt. The penalty he won, the goal he scored and even an effort cleared of the line when slotting past the keeper, shows he has the ability to persevere with.
Omar Rowe playing as a left wing back was a puzzle possibly due to the injury of Tariq so early in the game? Our most creative player so needs to be given the ball centrally and further forward? Rohan Silva is a huge lost, his work rate and our only midfielder that gets beyond the strikers.
2nd half we started poorly, Hendon pinned us in and dominated the entire half. We were reduced to the odd counter attack and looked dangerous on the rare occasions we got at the Hendon defence. Could only see Hendon going on to win the game at 3-3.
Think that’s the way a majority of the games have gone this season, Totton(A), Winchester(A) Hanwell(H) all games we never really looked like scoring more than a single goal.
Mark Molesley has to be given time? Easy to panic and replace him but I don’t see much point in that scenario? He’s trying to implement a system he wants us to play during mid season, which isn’t the easiest way to go about it. Injuries and suspensions don’t help, but he seems to be gradually getting in players that suit his way of playing. Major improvement in organisation and work rate off the ball. The final third is a real struggle at the moment.
Playing teams around us in the table over the coming month, home form is vitally important, we can pick up a few wins, which in turn should settle the team, then start playing with more confidence and build for next season.
U hayesssssssss

What worries me is that we have some good players but not a team if that makes sense. We are in a relegation battle and need to get out of it ASAP. Easier said than done. For me it’s now about getting safe for this season and then clear out some dead wood and build a TEAM for next season. We need to get back to being the club people feared playing.
Are there issues behind the scene that yet again fans are being kept in the dark about!!.
Tough game tomorrow let’s hope we see a good battling performance from the lads and see the shoots of recovery.
