Wednesday night in Plymouth anyone?? 2 games to save a dismal season.
No lack of effort or application, just a severe lack of quality in the final third once again. Think Mo Bettamer free kick high and wide was the only effort we mustered second half. Overall could have been 4/5 if they had been more clinical with their chances.
Ayo Faniyans pace was a real loss up front. Just don’t think Wabo is good enough for this level. On the rare occasion we got the ball wide second half on the left never once delivered a decent cross, always went backwards. When you have Bettamer and the giant Salifu waiting for crosses surely the instruction has to be hit early crosses?
First half was ok but still lacked a cutting edge. Best chance falling to Luke Gambin after a flick pass from Wabo, 8yds out hits the base of the post, rebound falls to Amos Nasha blazes over the bar. More dangerous but so open defensively, normally from giving the ball away to easily in the opponents half.
2nd half was all huff and puff, but looked more and more ragged after the substitutes entered the fray. Cole Brown once again looked our most dangerous threat when he got forward on the right. Amos and Sami always put in a shift but are not going to unlock well drilled defences. The bench was weak offensively Tariq, jack, Max Hudson rocky Williams Salifu! Where have all the offensive players gone.
Omar Rowe still injured but maybe released I heard today. Ronan Silva our only midfield player that got beyond the forwards and capable of scoring. We are deep in the sh*t unable to score goals but these players no where to be seen. I find it frustrating that no information passed onto fans about players coming or going. Charles Hagan, Bobby Busari admittedly not pulled up any trees but got to be worth an option of the bench, especially when we only going to stay up by scoring goals????
U ayesssssssss

This is probably the first game under the new management where I felt we got the tactics/formation completely wrong. We have a lot of central defenders and at least two decent wing-backs. The sensible option would have been (as with the Basingstoke and Gosport games) to play 3-5-2 yet we go with four at the back, a centre half in midfield, no width at all yet continue to not play to Bettamer's strengths. Paul Field is a decent player but playing a left footed player at left back gives the team far more balance.
It makes absolutely no sense that Max Hudson did not start on the left. Why change what worked so well at Gosport? Furthermore the Salisbury full backs had so much space to move into and our full backs were left so exposed. A point in this game would have been great but a defeat leaves us in a perilous position.
As stated by Red Army there is no sign of Hagen, Busari or Silva (not in Farnborough's squad) nor Owens. Our bench consisted of the untried Rocky Williams, the almost certainly not good enough Salifu and three defensive players. Will Salmon might well have done ok in midfield but how is this suddenly the best option when he has not played there in any other game for us since his arrival.
Please go back to back three at Plymouth and consider bringing a more attacking bench. I know that Ayo is a big miss today and presumably he will come back in for Wabo but this is not the time of the season for trying new things. Bracknell will only need a point on the final day to make the play offs so lets keep our fingers crossed that Totton can get at least a point at Plymouth on Monday so we get above Parkway, Swindon and Beaconsfield with three points down in Devon.

Same old problems same old result.
Salisbury were in cruise mode once they scored and were better in every department apart from the goalkeeper, the only reason I say this because we didn’t know how good their keeper was he didn’t make ant worthwhile saves.
No width for nearly all the game and if someone get into crossing position there was no one there or a crap over hit effort to no one. Soft goals maybe the keeper should accept responsibility the first goes in by his near post and the second I felt he could have been quicker off his line. I am bit worried when he seems to need treatment in every game it looks like he has an ongoing issue. He seems to get back up after treatment but it is a worry knowing our luck the next time it happens he may stay down.
Amos looks injured and was really struggling and should have gone off why was he left to struggle when he should have been subbed. Nothing on the bench today to change the game and the subs had no influence on the game when they came on. Back into the bottom four now with next weeks game at Plymouth a must win defeat will seal our fate. With yesterdays performance the result is almost a fore gone conclusion.
Hopefully with Ayo back the attack will improve. Again looking at Bettamer he looked to be struggling with his fitness. He tried hard but the Salisbury centre backs had him under control. Wabo tries hard but achieved nothing yesterday. Gamblin I thought had a decent game but is all left foot, never uses his right. He was unlucky when he struck the post but the rebound fell to his right foot he was never going to use that.
This was a difficult game against a quality side Hayes now need to forget about this and move on to Plymouth. One win may do it it for us but with two difficult games coming up it will take a massive effort.

Just from following on Twitter, all the above posts are relatable. Sounds like we really didn't offer too much and that's disappointing after such a good win away at Gosport last weekend.
I'd read a few people both here and Facebook questioning why we'd reverted from a back 5 which had served us so well recently. Seems an odd one but I assume Andy Leese had his reasons. Sounds like we need to revert back for Wednesday.
Make no mistake about it, Plymouth is now a must-win. With any luck, Totton will knacker them out sufficiently tomorrow night so they have little left in the tank for us. But ultimately, we have to be able to control our own destiny and put in a polished performance.
I have thought for some weeks it'll go down to the final day of the season. We've already shown we can beat Bracknell, and personally I think we'll need 2 from 2 to stay up. A point will no longer be good enough from either game. Faniyan coming back could be the spark we need.
PS: Agreed on the above posts re: player news. Am surprised to hear Omar may have been released. I'd have thought it'd be all hands on deck to the end of the season. But current news definitely something that needs more updating on official channels. I am really grateful for the post-match interviews though. Great to watch and increases our online presence, especially for fans like me unable to get to many games. Well done to the club on that.

These are the scenarios as I see them.
Scenario A:
Plymouth lose to or draw with Totton tomorrow night. They will either remain a point behind us or go level on points with us. Parkway's goal difference is currently -7 (one worse than our -6) although they have scored one goal more. We would then be GUARANTEED survival with a win at Plymouth and a draw at Bracknell. The rationale here is that this would get us to 49 points and neither Plymouth or Swindon could finish above us. Furthermore Plymouth go to Beaconsfield on the last day so it would be impossible for them both to pick up maximum points. Beaconsfield are only on 47 but would need to play for a win in their sole remaining game to ensure survival.
Scenario B:
Plymouth win against Totton tomorrow night. This would take them to 47 points and at least an equivalent goal difference to ourselves. Again we would be GUARANTEED survival with a win at Plymouth and a draw at Bracknell (accruing 49 points) due to Swindon having a far poorer goal difference and the fact that Beaconsfield are playing Plymouth on the final day.
Scenario C:
Irrespective of the Plymouth-Totton result we suffer defeat at Plymouth on Wednesday. We would then need to win at Bracknell to reach 48 points but would need other results to go in our favour.
Scenario D:
Irrespective of the Plymouth-Totton result we draw at Plymouth on Wednesday. We would then need to win at Bracknell to reach 49 points and GUARANTEE survival.
It is worth noting that Bracknell only need a point to guarantee 5th place and the last play off spot. You could have a situation (if we win on Wednesday) where both us and Bracknell would need a point on the final day to suit both of our needs, It is reminiscent of West Germany and Austria in the 1982 World Cup when they played out a bore draw in order to eliminate Algeria. The other point is that Hanwell are not entirely safe and a defeat at Salisbury next weekend would leave them on 48 points and at least a -6 goal difference.
To conclude what was meant to be a brief post our destiny remains in our own hands and a win and a draw in our last two games will be enough for us to stay up by the skin of our teeth.

Nice summary Churchroadtilidie. So many outcomes possible. Just hope we go out and try to win both to make it all academic. I think there will still be a few twists and turns before the 4:45 on Saturday. Hopefully we're on the right end of them.
I noticed recently on a few forums (and it could just all be nonsense) that there's quite a bit of talk of the full compliment of four not going down from our division this season? Rumours seem to abound of financial issues at various clubs in the division and some clubs taking voluntary relegation, which means reprieve(s) for club(s) in the bottom four. Again, I guess it's pure conjecture but it does seem to be happening more and more in recent times so it makes you think...
