Hendon (H)

Another home game drifts by, can’t fault players efforts and application. Sadly the final third just isn’t happening, it’s been the story from the outset in this campaign I’m afraid.

Few half chances created once again, some nice football played at times but feels like we never going to score. Tommy Wood header form a corner flashed wide was about the closest we came in fairness, chances for Ronan and Sami blocked.

2nd half was much the same. Tommy Wood half chance high and wide probably snatched at this. Ayo coming on added a little pace and urgency to the attack, shot comfortably saved from Hendon keeper. Shouts for penalties at either end, Tommy Wood looked like he beat the keeper to the ball, but man in the middle booked him for diving!! Paul Field in a tangle of legs at the back post from a wide cross had the Hendon bench screaming for a penalty but waved away. Dillion Addai produced 2 good saves to keep it level, and deflected shot form the edge of the turned over, and a point blank save inside the 6yd box thought the linesman flag went up eventually. Late scramble near the end, and cross caused a problem landed at Sami feet his shot blocked, Ayo inside the box, poor effort into the ground.

Mom no stand out performers Dillion Addai some crucial saves to keep it 0-0

Tommy Wood showed some nice touches his movement off the ball is decent, hard to judge him on his 2 starts, especially when we create so little for the front men.

Both wide men (Hagan and Billy Busari) flattered to deceive and struggled to impose themselves on the game. Busari was better 2nd half but never really troubled the full backs.
The build up through the middle of the pitch his very pedestrian at times, numerous occasions Owens in midfield taking 4/5 touches when control and pass would be better in our attacks.

Not sure what the plan is for the rest of the season, regarding the manager position?
The snake(MM) going doesn’t make much difference as I felt we were walking into relegation and going down with a whimper.
Next 2 home games are massive if we have any chance of getting out of this mess, but I’ve been saying that for the last month!!
Dorchester and Basingstoke both near the top of the form table so not going to be easy in either game.

U ayessssssssssss

This game was there for the winning with Hendon not bothering much. Another game without scoring apart from a missed header by Wood Hayes created nothing. It was a poor show all round. Hayes showed no creativity and with time running out no urgency. There were several players guilty of this along with poor passing especially after working hard to get the ball back only to give it straight back.
I can’t understand why Ayo did not start he was very lively when he got on and provided Wood with some help. Wood was isolated and it did not help with him losing his footing when in a good position. The two wingers never really got into the game but one should have been kept on when the massive player came on ( maybe Max Hudson ) to provide him with crosses to get his head onto he towered over everyone.
This was a missed opportunity which Hayes cannot afford not to take. Amos was training on the pitch and appears to have returned but looked injured. Two massive games coming up which need to be won. Hayes need to play with two up front and play more quickly and not give the ball away so cheaply

Red Army. Great summary agree totally!! As has been commented I saw no point in bringing the big man on and at the same time take off all the width despite Hagen and Busari failing to impress.

There is no shortage of effort from the players but we didn't really look like scoring.

The team selection was a little puzzling. I know we do not know the situation with injuries/fitness but leaving out Cole Brown (unused) and Ayo Faniyan makes little sense to me especially given that Busari was not even in the squad at Chesham and Hagen has not yet scored for the club in his infrequent appearances. At this stage of the season you need your strongest eleven on the pitch and the two aforementioned players plus Luke Gambin would fit into that category.

Looking to the weekend you would have to think that Omar Rowe will be in the starting eleven given our comparative lack of creativity. I feel he has let us down this season with 15 cautions and a red card (admittedly harsh) but he remains our most creative individual. Delroy and co must pick the strongest team and start on the front foot against Dorchester. A win is absolutely essential.

Finally it was encouraging to see Amos there on Monday. His treatment by the former manager was scandalous. Amos has been a loyal servant to the club and has rarely let us down. A real pity that the same cannot be said about the new manager of Weymouth.
