Good effort against the league leaders, once again there’s not a lot to choose between the two sides. Moment of quality or a lapse in concentration proved the difference in this tight affair.

Home side had the plenty of early possession but failed to create any thing resembling a chance. Long throws form Ex-Hayes man Jack Connor’s dealt with fairly comfortably, Dillion Addai claiming lots of these with safe hands. Much more of a commanding presence than Jacob Adams in amongst a crowded area. Hayes arguably had the best chance of the first half, Sami with a slide rule pass from the left down the side of the centre back, Ayo skips round the keeper and left footed attempt into the side netting form a tight angle. Hayes sat deep only gave up a few half chances to the home side, Tariq block just inside the penalty area denied a certain attempt on target. And a back post header wide of the target the only real attempts for Chesham. Ht. 0-0

Second half very similar to the preceding one, Ayo caused problems out wide with his pace few attempts cutting inside but all deflected or blocked wide. Chesham on top for most of the middle section of the half, break way on their right found striker with only Dillion to beat but blocked well and out for a throw. Tariq replaced and a shuffle round at the back caught us out I think. Cross evading everyone from the left picked up by the winger who played in back to the corner of the box, no pressure applied from the defence which gave the Chesham player time to pick out the centre forward unmarked dead centre of the goal around the penalty spot, his low downward header to Dillion Addai right hand side nestles in the back of the net. Another chance for home side from distance this time turned over by Dillion again. Header wide at the back post for Chesham. Cole Brown cross headed over the bar from Ronan Silva. Hayes rallied last 5/10 mins, ball falling to Tommy Wood, his dinked cross to the back post cleared away for a corner. Few corners and a lathe free kick from Cole Brown over hit to the back post had Will Salmon at full stretch but produced nothing. Ft 1-0

Mom Luke Gambin probably one of his best games in a Hayes shirt. Calm in possession excellent shift like all the players out there for this game.

Liked the look of the giant Fraeed Salifu in the closing stages, held the ball up well and his height and physical presence caused some issues for the last 15mins.

Onto Hendon and another massive game Easter Monday.

U hayessssssssss

Thanks for the great report.

After feeling a bit down on Friday with the manager's departure and several players, good and not so, also leaving, today feels much better! A strong performance against the leaders, Ronan still around (maybe Farnborough are staking a claim for next season?), Tariq back and fit, the new signings strengthening the squad, and the sun is shining!

What we need is for this to carry forward to the Hendon match, three points and who knows, an end-of-season push which gives Dev some difficult choices during the Summer.
