Those 4 wins on the spin seem like a distant memory!!
Thought we started well for the first 25 mins, on the front foot, winning second balls. Pace going forward the passing was a lot quicker and sharper. Cole Brown skipping past 2 players on the edge of the box and his low left footed curler tipped round the post by the keeper. Very good goal, ball out of defence into Ronan Silva his flick round the defender to Betts, turn and first time pass through the centre of the Swindon defence, the pace of Ayo gets him clear, and cool finish past the on rushing keeper. Charlie Owens strike high and wide. Then for some reason we got pushed back and didn’t really see any real attacks or they broke down with misplaced pass or crowded out by a nervy Swindon defence. Swindon dominated latter part of the 1st half, poor pass into midfield, cut out and a strike from edge of the box hitting the outside of the right post. Again one v one against the new hayes keeper, he did well to block with his right hand, just before their opening goal, think 3 passes from the away side dissected the whole Hayes midfield, and Paul field sliding block prevented another shot on target. Resulting corner to the near post misses every one, but will salmon could only divert the ball into his own net.
2nd half was so poor, started with a Will Salmon shocking pass which was cut out on the edge of our box. Cut back to ex Hayes player Fernandes who smashes home. Neither side really created anything for the rest of the half. Plenty of possession but no real cutting edge in the final third of the pitch. And dinked cross to the back post but cleared away with Mo Bettamer lurking. Possible penalty shout on Sami nutmeg on his marker but went down a bit softly for the referee. Staring an another defeat in the face up steps Charlie Owens and dispatches a 25yd free kick over the wall into the far corner. Scramble in the Hayes box followed immediately with Jack Williams clearing off the line.
Mom Cole Brown one of our most consistent players this year, defensively always seems to have 2/3 players to mark? Going forward is a threat.
Been our problem all season, the lack of creativity and never really look like scoring goals for long periods of a game. Watching games this season if teams sit deep and leave no space in behind we really struggle to break teams down. I’m still not convinced that we will pick up enough points based on current form over the last 5 games.
Repeat of Boxing Day last year v Chesham would be a good start!!
U hayessssss
