Well that was an extremely disappointing result and performance after Tuesday’s night late equaliser. Just when I think we are starting to look like a side on the up we go and put in a performance that is happened far to often this season.
The Jordan Ibe experiment has come to an end for me, absolutely woeful until the point he was subbed and shaking hands with his marker who had the easiest game of his career. Delroy demanding more from him and he just waving his arms about. Hasn’t done enough for me to warrant a start and substitute performances have been poor at best. Was easily the worst player on the pitch.
Created very little first half and fortunate to go in 0-0. Hippolyte effort blazed wide just inside the area. Few corners comfortably dealt with. Ascot looked far more likely to score, few chances dragged wide and an over hit cross that bounced off the bar. Wat chance for Ascot close range effort fired over the bar, Juliusz Pazio save with his feet late on kept the score at 0-0.
Much the same second half struggling to get any real rhythm into our game. Struggling to break down organised defence. Then 2 similiar goal 3 minutes apart ultimately ended the unbeaten away league run. Keano isolated on both occasions backing into the box and letting 2 crosses flash across the box, both resulted in goals and thoroughly deserved in all honesty. Was it a coincidence that ibe was subbed for Cole Brown and we finally looked to play with tempo and urgency. Cole Brown cross just out of reach for Herson Alves, another cross from the right Herson Alves back post tried a pass but out of play. Sippetts dragged us back into the game Adrian Clifton chest down and ball over his head, Sippetts pace beyond the defenders nodded into his own path once again tucked away under the keeper. Hippolyte burst into the area from the left chops back inside goes down under a rash challenge looked like a penalty but referee waved play on. Long throw from the right ball bounced to Sippetts couldn’t connect properly and cleared away. Still vulnerable on the counter but gave it a go final 15 but too little to late in the end.
Mom Adrian Clifton put in a real shift and held the ball up well playing slightly deeper with Sippetts as strike partner. Think there could be a decent partnership in time between the two of them. Sippetts caused problems with his direct approach and pace. Probably the only positive in the game.
Definitely need to iron out these below average performances to make the play offs come seasons end.
League starting to take some shape and looks like Farnham and kingstonian the front runners and any of 10 teams for play off spots.
