I still can’t decide if it was 2 points dropped or 1point gained last night.

Poor performance first half never got doing at a poor back pass intercepted for their opening goal. Otherwise very even for the first 45minutes. Looked like we hadn’t played for few weeks. Passing was poor and final third was hit and miss.

Created few chances but all blazed high or wide, best chance of the half fell to Hippolyte long pass over the top, he raced clear just outside the box hit hard and low but keeper saved with his feet.

2nd half was the same for 10 minutes or so. Then the passing through the lines found some tempo and urgency. Players not taking touches for the sake of it. Ball moving sharp across the edge of the box, Kaylen Hinds touch out of his feet just inside the 18yd box, low drive across the keeper into the far corner. Then the 2nd goal, Jordan Ibe an out swinging corner to the penalty spot, James Richmond climbing highest to power a header into the far corner. Confidence up and Ascot looking a little ragged for 20minutes. Wranyel Hercules tricking his way into the box, cut back blocked out for a corner. Clifton square pass found Hippolyte in acres of space drew out the keeper but fires high and wide. Jordan Ibe run into the box from the left footed snap shot so wayward out for a throw in. Then 82nd minute I don’t what happened substitutes players changing positions whether tactical or injuries is an unknown. I think we were lucky not to concede 3/4 in the last 10minutes. Curling shot hitting the outside of the post, free header wide of the far post. Another shot form the edge off the box flew wide. Then the equaliser which seemed inevitable for the visitors, long ball hoisted into the box, James Richmond unable to get his head to the ball under pressure. Fell to a visiting striker after hitting another Ascot player in the chest, who guided it home.

Mom Kombe Kawimbe. Nice to see some tackles being won in the middle of the pitch for a young lad was upto the physical challenge. Few missed placed passes but not the only one. Could be a good addition in a position I think we are lacking.

Andy in his interview didn’t seem to impressed.
Not the first time we struggled late in the game (South Park @ home) when making substitutions. My observation is that we haven’t got that many defensive minded players to see out games. Gaby and Cole Brown replaced. Wranyel Hercules work rate is unquestionable but he’s not as defensively minded as Cole. Jude Mason has been very reliable and we haven’t really got a direct replacement for him. Hopefully his injury is only a minor one.

Disappointing result especially at home, few plus points for sure, 20 minutes where we looked really slick going forward. Just work rate and effort from all concerned in training and games. Feel we will get better as the season progresses and the performances become more consistent. Played 1 or 2 games less than the teams in the top half sitting nicely after 7 games so not all doom and gloom just yet.

Thanks for the report Red army.

Your summary seems to tally up well with Andy Leese's interview after the game. He didn't sound remotely impressed and it's not the first time this season we've heard him echo those kind of sentiments. A bit of a worry but the new midfielder on loan from Hemel sounds like he made quite a good impression. Jordan Ibe apparently did well when he came on too.

If you look at our league position, doesn't look too bad. Only one defeat and we're not conceding many goals. Problem is we're not scoring many either. Adrian Clifton was so impressive early on but his goals seem to have dried up a bit since his suspension. Hinds seems to be doing the bulk of the scoring these days but he's only on loan of course. My only worry is that Farnham are already disappearing over the horizon, even this early.

On the plus side, other teams in and around the playoffs are having a mixed bag of results. Kingstonian were 1-3 up at Ashford on Tuesday and ended up shipping seven! There's a lot of discontent generally there it seems so hopefully we can take advantage of that on Saturday.

COYH!
