Season stats:

Post by The idol »

Just spent some time assessing the season after the disappointment of not making play offs.

Some interesting stats comparing the first and second half of the season.

First 21 games:
9 wins 7 draws 5 losses
Clean sheets: 3
Scored: 41
Conceded 30.

Last 21 games:
12 wins 5 draws 4 losses
Clean sheets : 7
Scored: 36
Conceded 23.

The stats definitely match the performances we were served up in the second half of the season. Signs of vast improvement with more consistency albeit less goals scored, we certainly became harder to beat and the signs are positive for next season to potentially, hopefully that one step further and go all the way to win it. It’ll be a tough ask but if we can keep the majority of the squad together then why not!
Let’s stick with it and see where we end up…

Nice stats, thanks for sharing!

Certainly makes sense as post-Christmas / New Year has been vastly improved. From the games I've been able to get to, the quality of the football was night and day between the Christmas period and then again in March.

Ultimately, we drew too many games. We certainly didn't lose many. I think only Farnham lost less and Ascot equaled our 9. That's pretty impressive over a season.

The key thing now is to try and keep the squad together. I don't know how many, if any, are contracted. It'd be nice to think we can at least keep the nucleus together, along with the coaching staff. Last time we were at this level we just missed out on promotion in the first season (albeit the playoffs SF to Cambridge City) and then the second season we stormed it. Let history repeat itself!

Will be competitive next season as I'm assuming we'll inherit Marlow, Winchester City and Hendon? Egham Town from the CCL North is confirmed. I assume Jersey (if they get promoted) from the CCL South will go into the Isthmian Div 1 SE rather than replace Guernsey? There are also AFC Portchester and Fareham Town who have won promotion from the Wessex Premier and are close to Moneyfields. Whatever happens, we'll also have many familiar faces from this season too. I reckon Leatherhead will be a good side next season, plus those who don't get promoted from the playoffs this time around.
